A Historic Colorado Hotel Will Be Closing This Restaurant

A Colorado hotel that has been in business for over 130 years has announced the closure of its signature restaurant. The hotel's statement says that the restaurant's closure is temporary. However, there is no current reopening date.

According to the Denver Post, the nearly 75-year-old hotel restaurant will hold what could be its last dinner service on Saturday, May 4. The Palace Arms restaurant opened in 1950 inside the Brown Palace Hotel located at 321 17th Street in Downtown Denver and was the ultimate fine dining experience in Colorado.

Fine dining is more of a luxury than a necessity right now, and we're not seeing the turnout we'd prefer to have to make a profit.

The Brown Palace Hotel's General Manager, Jana Smith, told the Denver Post.

The Palace Arms Restaurant at the Brown Palace Hotel

The Palace Arms Restaurant was a formal dining experience up until 2004. Suits, Ties, and the best attire were required to gain entry into the fine dining restaurant. Once inside the Palace Arms, you feel as if you have taken a trip back in time. Artifacts and memorabilia along with flags of the past decorate the dining room and make you feel like you were someplace truly special. Only the finest dishes were served to its guests at the Palace Arms. It is truly sad to see a piece of Colorado history close this weekend.

Colorado's Brown Palace Hotel was one of the first atrium-style hotels ever built. The hotel is operated by HEI Hotels and Resorts and in 2012, the Brown Palace Hotel joined Marriott's Autograph Collection.
